*Tour dates for 2026 have now been released – please see our Calendar for further information*

There will be a maximum of two tours per day which will include the trip over the water to the Castle in our boat and a personal guided tour of the castle provided by a member of the Stewart Allward family who are the present owners of the Castle.

Please note that the boat has limited capacity, tours are limited to a maximum of 6 persons per tour. You should allow up to two hours for the tour, including the boat trips.

Bookings must be made in advance and can only be arranged by using the ‘Contact Us’ form.

Tour prices for 2026 are £25 for adults and £15 for children under 16.

Please note that for logistical reasons it is not possible to accommodate wheelchairs or coach parties. Visitors should also be aware that access requires the ability to get in and out of a boat and negotiate numerous steps both in and around the Castle. Visiting Castle Stalker involves a short trip (appx 200 metres) in a small open boat, launched from the shoreline which can be rocky and slippery. The loch is tidal and can be rough in windy weather and although we make every effort to keep visitors dry and comfortable, we strongly recommend wearing clothing suitable for wet weather and for a boat crossing. Wellington boots or similar are advisable to assist with boarding and reduce the risk of wet feet. Lifejackets will be provided. Tours are subject to cancellation in the event of rough weather at the tour guide’s discretion

Should you arrive early for your tour, or be ready for a warm drink and bite to eat after braving the crossing, we recommend you visit The Linnhe Storehouse & Cafe with its panoramic views of Castle Stalker and Loch Linnhe, its friendly staff, and excellent food! If your tour finishes after 4pm, we can highly recommend a visit to The Old Inn where you will be able to experience yet more friendly staff and excellent food & drink in an authentic 18th century setting – all whilst warming yourself by an open fire!

DIRECTIONS:
The Castle is situated in Appin on the A828 between Ballachulish and Connel. Postcode for sat nav is PA38 4BL.

If travelling from Ballachulish, pass Linnhe Marine and The Linnhe Storehouse & café on your right, immediately after which the road goes down a steep hill. At the foot of the hill, turn right at the bend (just before The Old Inn) and then immediately left to park in the Old Inn car park (this is accessible for Castle visitors). Then take the path from the corner of the car park down to the cycle track and turn right, where you will find the Castle boathouse and jetty about 30 metres along on your left.

If travelling from Oban, drive through Appin village until you come to a row of white cottages on your left at the end of which is The Old Inn. Turn left at the sharp bend at the foot of a steep hill and follow the track round to the car park as above.
