Welcome to the Castle!

Welcome to the official web-site of Castle Stalker. Here you can find out all about the history of the Castle, take a virtual tour inside and outside the Castle, ask any questions you like - or try some light entertainment with The Battle of Loch Linnhe.

The Castle is open in 2010 over the following dates. For details of tour times and to book a place, please telephone 01631 740 315 or 01631 730 354.

10th May - 14th May
17th May - 21st May
23rd August - 27th August
30th August - 3rd September
20th September - 24th September

Please note that tours are subject to tides and weather conditions. For directions to the Castle please see below.

Should you arrive early for your tour, or be ready for a warm drink and bite to eat after braving the crossing, we recommend you visit the Castle Stalker View café with its panoramic views of Castle Stalker and Loch Linnhe, its friendly staff, and excellent food! Please note however that to reach the Castle boathouse you must continue along the road - it cannot be reached direct from the cafe!

The Castle is situated on the A828 between Ballachulish and Connel, and accessed by way of a track which turns off the road (see here for map) in between the village of Portnacroish and the Castle Stalker view cafe. If travelling North from Connel, the turning is to your left after passing a row of white houses, just before the road turns up the hill to the right. If travelling South from Ballachulish, the turning is to your right approximately 200 metres after the Castle Stalker view cafe, immediately at the bottom of the hill.

Having taken this turning, continue along the track and take the first left turning, opposite a small white cottage ("Strath Cottage"). At the bottom of this track is an area where you will be able to park, and proceed through the gate on foot to the boathouse and jetty.

Please note that this private track may not be suitable for all vehicles. Care must be taken and drivers use it at their own risk.

Come and visit the castle on-line! Find out all the history, ask any question you like - all without getting your feet wet.
